Magical tales at Cape Clear International Storytelling Festival

What do you get if you take several hundred people across nine miles of water to a small Island in the Atlantic Ocean? … you get a weekend of utter magic! Celebrating 25 years, Cape Clear International Storytelling Festival runs from Friday August 30 to Sunday September 1 and offers an excellent line up of featured performers and MCs (all professional storytellers) as well as Colum Sands as the main musician for the weekend.

Along with an international line-up of exceptional talent, this year new elements, such as the addition of an early evening concert on the Saturday for those leaving on the late ferry, make it the largest programme so far on the island.

Dominic Moore returns to Cape Clear after a 17-year absence with his hugely popular puppet show ‘Basher Bacon’, which is sure to be very well received. Dominic will also be giving a puppet-making workshop for 7-12 year olds, just bring a sock!

There is now a StorySwap each day, so brush up your telling skills (five minutes max and no reading!) and Storyswap Eile has been added to the bill on Sunday to give an extra last chance to anyone who still has a short story to tell.

If you want a break from stories, there will be two beautiful heritage and folklore walks, an island to explore, a Storytelling Boat Trip and try your skills at set dancing… see the website for more.

Leave computers, phones and gadgets behind and enjoy the world of story. See www.capeclearstorytelling.com for details.
